Letters To My Child Stationary Box

Back in August 2024 I took a class called Handmade Happiness Stationery Box. Yes if you know me you know I’ve made many of these type boxes before and varied the sizes to what I wanted to do with it. My favorite was the ones I did for the quilt retreat focusing on the logo girl silhouette. I took this class because Maymay (Maymay Made It) had made it bigger yet and changed it up in how she constructed it. After creating my Magnolia version, (that’s what I like to call it) during the class I got to thinking of ways I could turn it into even more of a traditional style stationery box. My daughter Shanna Kayla Ellis came over and saw it and she loved its concept. She said to me that she wanted to do something very special for someone and we got into the conversation about different things that could be done and out of that conversation came the Collaboration of what I’m calling LETTERS TO MY CHILD. As we talked about what she wanted to have in this version of the stationery box it became so much more than just the traditional style stationery box. This Box has 3 main components that will cover the first 18 years of a child’s life. The 1st. and my favorite part is the letters. Each year on the birthday of the child the mother can write a letter about their year together focusing on the things that she feels important for that child to have as memories. She will then place the letter in the box in a specific section. Keep in mind that when she presents this to her child is totally up to her. My idea is that this is a gift for when they graduate high school and about to begin the independent stage of their life.
The 2nd. Part is a Double Waterfall Album that contains a picture from their Birthday Day each year and could even be the school picture each year after they start school. There is a spot for the picture and a spot to journal about the picture.
The 3rd. Part is the Milestones of the child’s life. This can be anything that the mother feels is an important milestone much like a baby book would record or something similar. It has two different sizes of note cards that can be journaled on as well as hold a picture pertaining to that moment. Each part is a separate piece of this box all neatly contained for recording memories of the bond between a mother and child and to record the child’s first 18 years for them to look back on as they age and to also share with their children when they start their own family.
My daughter and I are already working on another idea of how to use this concept and I look forward to sharing that one when it is done. Below enjoy looking at this version which my daughter presented to her friend as her very special baby gift. I have blurred out some of the added personal information so forgive my not so professional way in which I did that. Enjoy and let your minds soar with what you would put in a stationary box of this kind.

After making the Birthday card I decided to make my usual 6 cards but using the same pieces I layered them differently so that they look the same but not the same. Mixing it up can be fun.

Squirrels – Tim’s Anniversary Card 2022

My husband has a love hate relationship with squirrels because they steal all the pecans from our trees. It’s so funny and our family gets a lot of pleasure watching him and these squirrels as well as they love teasing him about it. So, I thought it was only fitting that I make him a squirrel card for our 36th. Anniversary.

Tims Anniversary Card , I designed it in Cricut Design Space and used some retired products from Close To My Heart. I loved the colors and the fact the paper was all hearts. I think it was a perfect combination of colors and themed around Tim. He got a big kick out of this card and proudly displayed it for several weeks. I caught him many times stopping and looking at it, laughing just as he did when I gave it to him. I think he wanted to be sure everyone who stopped by got to see it.

Stationary Box for Southern Belle Retreats Session One 2022

This Stationary box style can be found all over YouTube, Pinterest and many groups on Facebook. Most of them are a set size. This one I created to be larger because I wanted it to hold larger cards. It holds 3 Z Fold Cards, 3 Double Z Fold Cards, 3 Tags, 3 Gift Envelope Cards, and a Note pad with Pen. It has a magnetic closure on both sides so that it doesn’t just fall open by itself when the lid is removed. It features a Quilt Square design and the beautiful logo girl from Southern Belle Retreats. You can send out a card, give a gift card, create a tag for a special gift or just write a note and when it’s elements are all sent out and used you still have a beautiful box to house cards you might receive that are special to you.

Quilt Retreat Brag Purse 2022

I created this Brag Purse as a door prize for Session 2 of the Southern Belle Retreat 2022. I got my inspiration from watching a tutorial on YouTube from Scrap and Coffee, she does a great job with her videos. After creating my first one I decided I wanted to make it for the Southern Belle Retreats 10th. Anniversary door prize. I really wanted it to hold 4” x 6” photos so I increased the size. It was simple I created my waterfalls and then built the rest around it. The tutorial from scrap and coffee made it so easy to create in her original size that I knew just following the guide basics I could do it any size I chose to. Check out her video it’s awesome. Here is the door prize I created. I used a very old paper collection from 2012 from Close To My Heart called Florentine. I also used die’s from Diamond Press, and the pewter embellishments were also from Close To My Heart as well as Bamboo Card stock, COCOA Card Stock, and Cocoa ink pad. Most everything is retired products except the Diamond Press Dies. I love combining new with old products. I hope you enjoy looking at it and I hope it inspires you to go watch the video from Scrap and Coffee and create one for yourself.

Southern Belle Retreat Quilt Themed Brag Purse.
This piece is housed on the inside and helps protect one of the waterfalls helping the magnetic closure to release from each other without sticking together.

That’s Amore Ultimate POP Up Card

I combined the That’s Amore Paper Collection from 2009 with the Z4060 Lace Border Thin Cuts from 2019 to create this unique pop up card. I also used C1336 You’re Adored, D1265 Gracious Greetings Stamp Sets and Z1935 Epoxy Bubble Gems. Card Stock color used is Chocolate also retired and Color Ready Ribbon. This card is beautiful in any paper collection new or old, it’s fun and easily created.

Valentine’s Day Card for my sweet husband

  1. This is a three panel card with pockets and small rhinestones for embellishments. I used both new and retired products for this card.
  2. Every Card needs to have a pretty envelope that matches the card.
  3. The first panel of the card is the Edge Word that swings to the left to reveal the front of the card.
  4. The front card swings to the right to reveal bth inside panels. I pulled out the note from its pocket to show that it could be removed and used as a bookmark. I also have the little message card out of its pocket to give the full view of the vertical love word.
  5. A visual to show that the pieces are out of the pockets.
  6. Message Card and personal note card are now back in the pocket on the left. The personal note card can go in the pocket on the right also. The picture don’t catch the light to show the sparkle it has from the small rhinestones.
